Soulja boy delivered an outstanding performance, rapping as if the future of the game depended on it. He truly did the music industry proud.
Diddy – Same Damn Time
Diddy’s verse was so ill it sparked widespread speculation about the true mastermind behind the lyrics. Every word he spoke was facts for his lifestyle which made it sound even better. Given his reputation for engaging ghostwriters, particularly as a prominent music mogul, it was expected he had help. However, that in no way diminishes the sheer brilliance of this verse.
Paul Wall – Chunkin Up The Duece
Paul Wall’s verse transcended to a different dimension on this track. While he typically embraces a slower, more Texas-style flow, his cadence and delivery reached the pinnacle of excellence. He definitely made Chamillionaire proud here as its the closes he’s gotten to his verse their old song “N Luv With My Money”.
Foxy Brown – I’ll Be
Foxy rode the beat like a pro on a mechanical bull. Her delivery was nothing short of perfection, igniting the club with his undeniable charisma and scorching talent. There is a reason Hov took her under his wing.
Lil B – Sending Shots
Lil B was widely recognized for his troll music. While he was not known for prioritizing the technical aspect in his rap, his usual approach of valuing quantity over quality makes this particular verse all the more remarkable. His flow is reminiscent of the style found during the Lil Wayne’s Carter 2 era. He was really in his bag here.
Boosie Badazz – Set It Off
Boosie was rapping like the rent was due! His infectious verses are the reason this song is a hit. There isn’t a club across Texas or Louisiana that wouldn’t go all the way up if the D.J. threw it in the mix. Most southern people know the first verse word for word as if the Mo City Don came on.
Kevin Federline – America’s Most Hated (Verse 1)
Kevin Federline was never embraced as a Hip Hop artist and was often overshadowed by his association with Britney Spears. Despite his fleeting and unsuccessful attempt into the music industry with an Hip Hop album, Pac said it best when he names his album “The Rose That Grew From Concrete.” This sentiment beautifully encapsulates the essence of the first verse of this song. It’s a shame the hook and verses that followed couldn’t keep up.
Slim Thug – Wanna Be A Baller Freestyle
Slim snapped on this 99 freestyle. Not many know that he was actually always this lyrical in the beginning stages of his career. His older freestyles are what turned him into a Texas wide name after all. Whenever you hear “It’s the Mr. Slim Thug” you know a hard flow come with it.
Birdman – Number 1 Stunna
Similar to Diddy, Birdman went off on his verse. He rode the Manny Fresh assisted beat perfectly and outshined everyone else on the track. When you rappin with 99-2000 Wayne, 99-2000 Juvenile, and 99-2000 B.G. that’s not an easy feat. His southern cadence and flow was on a level I haven’t seen from him since.
Saweetie – Icy Girl
Saweetie’s transition into a pop artist was a significant shift in her career. Nevertheless, her early success with this Khia beat was undeniable, propelling her into the spotlight and jump-starting her journey in the music industry.
