Timelines Of Events:
05/04/24: Drake releases FAMILY MATTERS
5/4/24: After the punishment from Euphoria, Drake finally responds with Family Matters.
Maybe in this song you shouldn’t start by saying
Nigga I said it, I know that you mad
I’ve emptied the clip over friendlier jabs
You mentioned my seed, now deal with his dad
I gotta go bad, I gotta go bad?
Drake starts off letting Kendrick know what hes in for.
“Always rapping like you ’bout to get the slaves freed
You just acting like a activist, it’s make believe”
This isnt the first time someone mentioned Kendrick is a fake activist. During the height of the george floyd movement, this was thrown around a lot. And honestly, this is the best angle to attack Kendrick if Drake wants any chance of winning this battle. If I were Drake, I would’ve gotten a very pro-black “To Pimp A Butterflyish” sounding beat, did my homework on 5%ers/ Hebrew Israelites, Pan Africanism, and their lifestyles and really got at K. Dot for being a studio activist. This would’ve divided even his most loyal fanbase.
“You say you hate the girls I fuck, but what you really mean?
I been with black and white and everything that’s in between
You the black messiah wifing up a mixed queen
And hit vanilla cream to help out with your self-esteem“
Drake is doing good here highlighting Kendrick’s studio activism. Once again, he has been criticized for being super pro black in his music only.
“What the fuck I heard Rick drop, nigga?
Talking something ’bout a nose job, nigga
Ozempic got a side effect of jealousy and doctors never told y’all niggas”
Still standing on his 20v1 statement, Dranos makes sure he jabs everyone currently coming at him while still focusing on his main opponent, in true Dragonball Z style. Champagne Moments dropped and Drake responded. Im sure Rosay will have a response to this before the weekend is out.
Rakim talkin’ shit again
Gassed cause you hit my BM first
Nigga do the math, who I was hitting then?
I ain’t even know you rap still cause they only talking bout your fit again
Probably gotta a have kid again before you think of dropping any shit again
Apparently the god emcee has been bragging about hitting his BM, and Drake had to tap him back.
“Ross calling me the white boy and the shit kind of got a ring to it
Cause all these rappers waving white flags while the whole fucking club sing to it”
Drake pulls an eminem and flips the white boy jokes back on his enemies.
A cease and desist is for hoes, can’t listen to lies that come out of your mouth
You called the Tupac Estate, and begged em to sue me and get that shit down
Drake responds to the cease and desist rumor that K. Dot threw on him regarding like that. He even accussed him of using the 2Pac estate to attack his taylor made record.
“You right about, “Fuck the Big 3”, It’s only Big D, and it’s video proof
Our sons should go play at the park, two light skin kids, that shit would be cute
Unless you don’t want to be seen with anyone that isn’t blacker than you”
It looks like Drake is letting his real feelings be known about J Coles apology video and alignment with Kendrick.
Kendrick had a track ready in the chamber for Drake. He immediately drops Meet the Grahams not even 30 minutes later. In this song, he speaks to Drakes son, mother, and father.
After hearing this track its clear Drizzy has a problem on his hands.
“I’m sorry that that man is your father, let me be honest
It takes a man to be a man, your dad is not responsive
I look at him and wish your grandpa woulda wore a condom
I’m sorry that you gotta grow up and then stand behind him”
Kendrick not only breaks Drake apart, but his father too.
“I’m sorry that you gotta grow up and then stand behind him
Life is hard, I know, the challenge is always gon’ beat us home
Sometimes our parents make mistakes that affect us until we grown
And you’re a good kid that need good leadership
Let me be your mentor since your daddy don’t teach you shit”
Kendrick really hits drake hard with this advice to Adonis whom he feels doesnt not have the right father figure in his life. Out of all the diss records, this one is about as disrespectful as it gets.
“Don’t cut them corners like your daddy did, fuck what Ozempic did
Don’t pay to play with them Brazilians, get a gym membership
Understand, no throwin’ rocks and hidin’ hands, that’s law
Don’t be ashamed ’bout who you wit’, that’s how he treat your moms”
Ouch…..if this bar pushes Drake into being with Sophie, the narrative will be Kendrick forced him to be a good a good husband.
Don’t have a kid to hide a kid to hide again, be sure
Five percent will comprehend, but ninety-five is lost
Be proud of who you are, your strength come from within
Lotta superstars that’s real, but your daddy ain’t one of them
And you nothing like him, you’ll carry yourself as king
Can’t understand me right now, just play this when you eighteen
This whole verse was hands down, the most disrespectful one of the entire feud. And it will haunt Drake for a long time if he and Adonis ever get into it once he gets older.
Dear Sandra
Your son got some habits, I hope you don’t undermine them
Especially with all the girls that’s hurt inside this climate
You a woman, so you know how it feels to be in alignment
With emotion, hopin’ a man can see you and not be blinded
Dear Dennis, you gave birth to a master manipulator
Even usin’ you to prove who he is is a huge favor
The Graham family house hold may be in shambles long term after this pure psychological warfare that Kendrick is putting together.
“I’m blamin’ you for all his gamblin’ addictions
Psychopath intuition, the man that like to play victim
You raised a horrible fuckin’ person, the nerve of you, Dennis”
Kendrick sounding like a disappointed father to Drakes father is another next level of disrespect. This beef may elevate beyond the studio.
“Mm-mm, your son’s a sick man with sick thoughts, I think niggas like him should die
Him and Weinstein should get fucked up in a cell for the rest they life
He hates Black women, hypersexualizes ’em with kinks of a nympho fetish
Grew facial hair because he understood bein’ a beard just fit him better
He got sex offenders on ho-VO that he keep on a monthly allowance
A child should never be compromised and he keepin’ his child around him
And we gotta raise our daughters knowin’ there’s predators like him lurkin’
Fuck a rap battle, he should die so all of these women can live with a purpose”
Kendrick is trying to turn Drake into the next hip hop disgraced superstar. portraying a man who is a known womanized to being another power male who abuses women in all areas is a sure way to turn his fanbase against him. All it takes is one accusation and Drake will have bigger problems than a hip hop beef.
“To any woman that be playin’ his music, know that you’re playin’ your sister
Or better, you’re sellin’ your niece, to the weirdos, not the good ones
Katt Williams said, “Get you the truth,” so I’ma get mines
The Embassy ’bout to get raided, too, it’s only a matter of time”
This particular diss may be the deciding factor of the entire feud. Drake has an extremely tough hill to climb if he wants to sway the court of public back in his favor. Not only that, but if a woman decides to spit out a false accusation on him, his career could be over.
Dear babygirl
I’m sorry that your father not active inside your world
He don’t commit to much but his music, yeah, that’s for sure
He a narcissist, misogynist, livin’ inside his songs
Try destroy families rather than takin’ care of his own
If this ends up being true, this is the same knock out punch Pusha T used against you. For his sake I hope this is 100% cap. Otherwise there wont be a way to recover from it. He still catches flack for hiding Adonis to date.
“Money’s always been illusion, but that’s the life he’s used to
His father prolly didn’t claim him neither
History do repeats itself, sometimes it don’t need a reason
But I would like to say it’s not your fault that he’s hidin’ another child
Give him grace, this the reason I made Mr. Morale”
Drake debunked this in his IG stories. But still, the thought of a secret daughter is pretty damaging. And the fact that Kendrick is being more of a father to her would be unforgivable to his fanbase. Well played, K. Dot. This is as close to Nas’ Ether as it gets
I know you probably thinkin’ I wanted to crash your party
But truthfully, I don’t have a hatin’ bone in my body
This supposed to be a good exhibition within the game
But you fucked up the moment you called out my family’s name
Why you had to stoop so low to discredit some decent people?
J Cole has to be given some credit for backing out early. He foreseen this getting ugly and personal. Looks like his belief is slowly coming to pass. This was originally planned to be a friendly sparing match. Once the hype of the music dies down, there will definitely be a lasting animosity among the camps.
Thirty-seven, but you showin’ up as a seven-year-old
You got gamblin’ problems, drinkin’ problems, pill-poppin’ and spendin’ problems
Bad with money, whorehouse
Solicitin’ women problems, therapy’s a lovely start
Drake is a known sports better, and overall has a diddy type party lifestyle. Kendrick is using that image to make him look like he is spiraling out of control.
You lied about the only artist that can offer you some help
Fuck a rap battle, this a long life battle with yourself
The last bar pretty much sums up this entire diss. Kendrick painted Drake as a broken man who is slowly falling apart.
Final Thoughts?
Regardless of the volume of records Kendrick puts out, they will all be considered round 2 until Drake drops another one. Kenny is currently 2-0 when this could’ve easily been 1-1. The first round was close but K. Dot secured it with his more personal disses. Drake is too busy trying to fire off at too many people which is watering down his responses. It was exciting the first time he did it. But now, its becoming repetitive and unnecessary. He needs to focus on his true opponent. The one thing Drake could’ve done to secure a win this round would’ve been to tap into his pro-black side and call Kendrick out for what appears to be hypocrisy. To this date, One criticism that lingers every time a black man is murdered is we never seen him truly out there protesting or involving himself in any pro black movements. On the other side of the coin, Drake will have an uphill battle every time he is seen out with a new woman. His character as an overall person is now in question. Overall, This doesn’t need to go beyond a third round in my opinion. If Drake plans on dropping another track, it better be a game changer. Please take your time Drizzy. We all know you are capable, but do not allow the internet to rush you into putting out something mediocre.
